Travel News : Hotels In Kullu And Manali Reopen After 6 Months
Hotels in Kullu and Manali for the first time on the first of October since the coronavirus pandemic broke out in the country in March. This is the first time in 6 months that hotels have reopened after the The Hoteliers Association of Kullu-Manali had decided to keep all properties shut until the 30th of September.
The reason behind the delay in popular tourist towns like Kullu and Manali not opening themselves up to tourism was largely due to lack of infrastructure. The hotel association had demanded a COVID testing and care facility in Manali.
Anup Thakur, president of Hoteliers Association Kullu-Manali, confirmed to a news portal that about 50 percent hotels had reopened from October 1st and the rest were set to reopen in the near future
Anup also suggested that hotels in Kullu-Manali are expecting a surge in demand and that is being reflected in the number of enquiries for room bookings. He said the numbers were growing significantly by the day after the government reopened state borders for outsiders. The impending arrival of winter is likely to further boost tourism in Kullu-Manali.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, October 3rd to inaugurate the Atal tunnel. Due to the Prime Ministers visit, a lot of VIPs had also been stationed in Manali, Kullu and Lahau
