Aarogya Setu mandatory for air travel post lockdown
The Aarogya Setu App will soon be a mandatory prerequisite for nay air travel once lockdown restrictions are eased. Indian Railways have already made it mandatory for passengers to have the Aarogya Setu app, The Civil Aviation ministry is expected to follow suit and initial discussions with Governemnt officials and airlines about making the application mandatory for post-lockdown flights have already taken place.
Arogya Setu App uses your location and Bluetooth history to check if you may have come in contact with a COVID-19 high risk person. The app is considered to be a way to integrate self certification among travelers and help state governments in formulating e-passes for interstate travel. The app will be required to be functional at all times and if any person is found guilty of feeding incorrect data would be liable for legal persecution which could include jailtime.
While there have been concerns about the sensitivity of data with regards the Arogya Setu App, however Amitabh Kant, Ceo, Niti Aayog confirmed that data of safe users is deleted after 30 days, while high risk users is deleted after 60.
Looks like the Arogya Setu App is here to stay and aid in the resumption and normalization of Air Travel in India post lockdown.
