Travel In India Keeping In Mind These Rules During Elections

Now that the Lok Sabha will be in full bloom, restrictions have been sanctioned on the public to prevent any unfair means. As always, the Election Commission (EC) has alerted the Railways, airports, the Income Tax department, and other enforcement agencies to keep an eye out on those carrying suspicious amounts of money or gifts while traveling.

Anything more than INR 50,000 in cash or any gifts that exceed INR 10,000 can be taken from the owner under electoral regulations. If the money surpasses INR 5 lakhs, the case would be forwarded to the Income Tax Department. However, there’s no reason for you to worry. You can reclaim your money or gifts with the right documents that prove that neither of it was related to the election. As you book for your next summer destination, you have to be aware of the rules announced by the EC to ensure smooth-flowing trips with no unnecessary bumps!
