Major AQI Drop In Delhi, NCR Post-Diwali Prompts An Untimely Vacation Rush

Everyone heads home or for vacations during the festive season. But have you come across people who flee from their homes post-festivals? What’s happening in NCR and Delhi is just that. The air quality index (AQI) in the area after Diwali drastically dropped, forcing many to make impromptu vacation plans to nearby places.

Rishikesh, Manali, Shimla, Kasauli, Dehradun, Nainital, and other such places with lesser pollution have seen a surge in tourists this month. This off-season rise in bookings has been observed mainly because of the toxic smog and pollution in Delhi, NCR, which is increasingly the cause of several respiratory issues. Locals claim that escaping the city post-Diwali seems to be the only solution to protect their health.

With a large number of people traveling to escape the airpocalypse, experts in the tourism industry have observed escape travel to be the new trend this year. The demand for accommodation in places close to NCR has been continuously increasing because of the sudden last-minute travel.

This might just be your chance to enjoy a vacation if you didn’t get one earlier. But be careful and don’t run into your neighbors, now that most of Delhi and NCR is taking a holiday!
