Treat yourself to a thunderous sight by experiencing the Dhuandhar Falls in Bhedaghat. Standing proudly at a height of 30 meters, the Dhuandhar Falls is backed by pristine white rocks called 'Marble Rocks' on which the water plunges. Located on the Narmada River, the mist at the falls gives the place a surreal vibe. This is thanks to the force of the water crashing down, which is also how it gets its name - “dhuan” for smoke and “dhar” for stream.
What’s interesting is that this "marble-ous" place was where the Bollywood movie 'Ashoka' was shot. Dhuandhar Falls is tucked away in the little town of Bhedaghat. It’s not too far from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh - just about 22 kms. So if you’re looking to visit a fascinating offbeat place, Dhuandhar Falls is as good as any. It is pretty popular with locals though. Let us tell you a little more about this place and what it’s all about.
Jabalpur Airport is the nearest airport to the falls and is a little over an hour’s drive away. You can easily get a cab to the falls from here.
The Jabalpur Railway Station is the nearest railhead and is located around 20 kms away. It takes a drive of around an hour to get to the falls from here.
Bus - You can easily get a state transport bus from Jabalpur. The frequency is good and it only takes about 30-45 minutes to reach. A state transport bus here is called “Metro” but don’t get confused, it’s just a regular local bus. The journey will cost you about INR 20.
Rickshaw/Cab - Local auto rickshaws and cabs are easily available from Jabalpur. Ola also operates in the city. There are no Uber services here yet, but they do have Rapido Bike Taxis in the city. It’s pretty cheap, and efficient too.
This is definitely one of the more interesting ways of visiting Dhuandhar Falls. You can first go to Panchavati Ghat, hop on a motorboat jetty, and make your way here. It costs about INR 30-40 for a 50-minute ride. Fun, right? Unless you take a jetty, the bus/cab/rickshaw will not drop you right at the falls. You will still have to walk a little and climb a few stairs, but that’s a short walk.

There are some really cool experiences involving the lake, each really fun to be a part of. You’ll also find small local shops selling stuff made of marble. So if you want, you could always get yourself a souvenir of sorts. Apart from that, you can make a day out of simply chilling on the rocks. By that we mean, just find a cozy spot, enjoy the sound and the view, and just chill out. Of course, you can click loads of pictures from the viewing spot.
What you could also do is head to Bhedaghat where the water is still and take a dip in the river. While there are many spots where local kids jump and get coins from the water, we would strongly advise you against doing that. No need to jump and possibly risk an injury, just play it safe instead. Here are some of the cool things you can do here.

Seeing the rays of the sun reflecting against the white marbles is simply an out-of-the-world experience.
The water seems so calm and still, which is surprising, considering how just a short distance away, the Dhuandhar Falls keeps rumbling. During your boat ride, you might be able to hear the falls roaring in a distance. Also, it might not seem like it, but the river is about 600 feet deep. The boat ride costs approximately INR 100 for about 45 minutes. Treat yourself to this majestic site and trust us, you won’t be disappointed.

Dhuandhar Falls is accessible throughout the year, but boating is shut during the monsoons. From a weather point of view, October to March would be the best time. It is also when the weather conditions will be favorable for boating. Dislike the heat? Visit during the winter months.
If you can bear the summers of Madhya Pradesh, then it’s definitely a good time to visit in the summer. If you can't stand the heat, avoid visiting during the summer, especially at noon. Of course, there will be a difference in the flow and the speed of the falls, but it is still amazing during summer too.
