Delhi Tourism brings yet another initiative for you to explore the city in a new light. Following the success of the 'Haunted Walk' concept, Delhi Tourism intends to provide daily evening tours. This will be done to improve tourism and revenue throughout the summer. The initiative will be called Delhi by Evening, wherein the tour will be run from 5 pm to 10 pm, covering famous monuments and tourist attractions. It will begin at the National War Memorial, then proceed to India Gate and a walk down Kartavya Path. After that comes Qutub Minar and Safdarjung Tomb, both of which are lit at night and open till 8.30 p.m. The last destination will be Dilli Haat, where travelers can shop and eat dinner.
There will be a designated pick-up and drop-off location from which the department's tour bus, accompanied by a tour guide, will transport guests. Each batch will have about 30 guests and the entire package including transportation and dinner will be for INR 500. All interested participants can book the trip using the Dekho Meri Delhi app or the department's website. This initiative was taken to remedy the summer situation where tourists and locals tend to avoid exploring the city. Along with that the tourism department also wishes to promote a sunset point through this initiative. The National War Memorial has a perfect view of sunsets and honors a different martyr’s family every new day which many people are unaware of. The tourn plan has been uploaded by the department on its website and they have started receiving inquiries as well. If the tour gets a positive response, the department plans to add more spots to the tour.
