planetary alignment, astronomical event

Catch A Stellar Astronomical Event Happening On THIS Date!

We know the sun got a tad too harsh on you this summer but there’s always a silver lining to every cloud. The celestial bodies are giving you yet another chance to witness an astronomical wonder on June 3. On this day, 6 planets will align in the sky of which you’ll be able to spot 4 of them with your naked eye! Colloquially called the ‘Parade of Planets’, this is one of the rarest phenomena happening due to the planetary alignment. A planetary alignment is an event occurring in space when the orbits of many planets in the Solar System are coincidentally on the same side of the Sun at the same time.

To spot this, head an hour before sunrise, to the rooftops, where the light pollution is scarce and the eastern horizon is clear. You’ll see Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus, with Jupiter being the easiest to spot. Saturn and Mars will also be relatively easier to spot because of the rings and reddish tint of the planets respectively. Keep a pair of binoculars ready to spot Uranus, Neptune, and possibly Mercury as they’ll be faintest to see. Although each planet has its unique quality, for better identification, you can even use night sky apps like Sky Map, Star Chart, or Sky Tonight.

Not only are the photographers and skywatchers in for a treat because of this, but this is a great opportunity for researchers and space enthusiasts from a study perspective. Make sure you’re up early on June 3 to catch this stunning astronomical phenomenon happening live!
