Juhu Beach

This is a beach that’s literally starstruck by Bollywood. Meaning it’s surrounded by the residences of some of your favorite celebs! Don’t be surprised to see them jogging around the beach while you’re here, it’s fairly common!

Another beach just outside Mumbai is Gorai Beach, which is about 40 km away from the southern end of Mumbai. This is an awesome place for a weekend outing with friends or family. Lined by beautiful palm and coconut trees, all you’ll find here is complete bliss.

The whole of Girgaum Chowpatty is outlined by Marine Drive. A place where you can enjoy the city lights with your people, have a short walk around the beach itself or explore the local market while having some yummy food, Girgaum offers them all.

Madh Island Beach

One of the best beaches around Mumbai, Madh is also one of the cleanest in the city. Located on the north-western coast of Mumbai, Madh Island comprises a cluster of villages and farmlands.

Madh Island Beach is surrounded by mangroves, giving the visitor a spectacular view. Apart from being serene, the beach is one of the places where parties are held by the upper elites of Mumbai. This beach is a little far away from Mumbai in Kelwa (109 km). The total length of the beach is about 8 km. Lined by huge Suru (casuarina) trees lazily swaying to and fro in the wind, Kelwa or Kelwe Beach is the place for a weekend escape.

Kelwa Beach is also well known for the Kelva Fort and Sitladevi Temple. The beach is one of the hidden treasures unknown to many people, but surprisingly as time is changing more and more people are getting to know more about the beach. A beach situated 17 km away from the tiny little town of Dahanu is Bordi Beach. What’s special about Bordi is the sand here, which is black in color and quite sticky.

The specialty of the seashore is that it is lined with chikoo trees, making the beach more appealing and attractive.

The waters around Bordi are relatively calm and don’t rise substantially, so you swim with relative ease and safety here (but do be careful and don’t take any unnecessary risks!)
