Goa Is All Set To Pick Up On Cruise Tourism From September End

It has been 2 years since the covid pandemic hit cruise tourism in Goa, but now the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) has taken it up as a challenge to give it a new start. To ensure smooth domestic and international operations for the season, the MPA Chairman Venkata Ramana Akkaraju held a meeting with some key government departments and private stakeholders. During the meeting, all hurdles including issues related to bus and taxi operators were discussed.

For the season of 2022, Goa is expected to receive 56 port calls, including 21 international cruise liners. The season will be kick-started by the domestic cruise liner - The Cordelia Empress, which is expected to arrive on September 30. The international cruise liners are expected to arrive later in the month of October. Since the construction of the new international cruise terminal is only expected to be completed by September 2023, the international vessels will have to use the existing domestic terminal.

The aim of MPA is to boost cruise tourism by providing a comfortable and memorable experience to travelers. And to help achieve the same, they will be putting up standard operating procedures for enforcement agencies, so that cruise operators and passengers have a hassle-free experience.
